Pet Night in Brussels

I was lucky enough to attend the European Pet Night held last week at the huge European Parliament building in Brussels.
The event was cohosted by two MEPs, British Neil Parish and Portuguese Paulo Casaca, and the star of the show was assistance dog Caesar, representing Dogs for the Disabled and partner of Wendy Morrell. In fact, she called him her hero!
It was great to be part of this mix of animal organisations and political figures, all working together to stress how important pets are to the 62million European households which are lucky enough to have one. With a theme for the night of We Care, it seems that it is time for pets to be higher on the European political radar, which can only be a good thing.
