National Pet Month Art Competition

National Pet Month calls on schools and children’s groups to hold their own Pet Nose Day during National Pet Month (02 April – 02 May)

National Pet Month, which runs from 02 April – 02 May, is encouraging schools and children’s groups to get behind the charity and hold their very own ‘Pet Nose Day’.

Using this year’s theme – ‘Happiness is... time with my pet’ – children are encouraged to get in touch with their artistic side by creating a face mask of their favourite pet. Children can be encouraged to paint or decorate them as realistically as possible, or alternatively they could create a favourite pet from their imagination.

It provides a perfect opportunity for teachers and group leaders to talk about the important role pets play in our lives. It’s also a great way to get children engaged with animals and pet care – you could even see if a local vet practice, pet shop or animal charity would like to get involved. For those with a pet it enhances what they have already learned; for those without pets, it opens up a whole new world!

National Pet Month is holding a competition looking for the best ‘Pet Nose Day’ event. The winning school or children’s group will be visited by a Pets As Therapy volunteer with their own beautiful, friendly P.A.T. dog. There will be certificates for runners-up.

To get involved:
